What is Masters Commission?Master's Commission is a 9 month intensive discipleship training ministry. It is designed for young people with a desire for nothing less than all of God. All of this training is put into action in public school assemblies, church presentations, and community outreaches.Master's Commission is not bound to an area or aspect of ministry. We will minister to any person in need whether young, old, poor, rich, in the pew or on the street. We have one mission: to know Christ and make him know. History of Chicago Master's CommissionSince the commencement in 1997, Chicago Master's Commission has been a part of the Master's Commission International Network. Keeping the program true to the core values of Master's Commission. In addition, it offers students an opportunity to live and minister in the inner city of Chicago .This ministry is housed by New Life Covenant Assembly of God. It's multicultural and community based outreach programs provide students with diversity and multi ministry training.

•Driven Youth Ministry: Direct exposure and training in youth ministry. Participating in weekly youth services. Averaging 500-700 youth•Children's Ministry: Training, planning, and operation of work with Children age 5 and up.•Retreats: Student's have the opportunity to coordinate and participate in Driven Youth Retreats as well as Link Unlimited, a scholarship program with high school students from all over the city of Chicago.•School Assemblies: Students will participate in motivated school assemblies which incorporate talents such as drama, human videos, speaking, and dance.•Community Ministries: Students will be involved in outreaches such as Adopt-A-Block, Women's Shelter, and Bridge-to-life (feeding the homeless in Chicago)•Mission Trips: CMC has helped our local church plant a Dream Center in the heart of Camden New Jersey! This mission field has been one of the highlights of the students year.•Project Nehemiah: Students will be able to go into the heart of the city and interact with children and their families from lower income housing•Homiletics: The art of Preaching, taught by our Senior pastor Wilfredo DeJesus. This also gives the students an opportunity to preach in front of a small congregration•"Basic": Four sets of courses to equip the student with more knowledge in aspects of life and Ministry. These courses will include: Life Skills, Bible Basic, Verbal Communication, and Drama

How do you disciple and train a young adult to fulfill the calling that God has placed on their life? By being a disciple yourself. Pastor David and Marisol are both products of discipleship through Master's Commission.Marisol Marrero started her journey of discipleship in the first ever class of Chicago Master's Commission in 1997. She went on to complete 2 more years of the program, and graduated her 3rd year in 1999. After her 3rd year, Marisol took over the junior high ministry for David while he began his first year of Master's Commission.After Pastor David graduated his 1st year he continued to work with the junior high ministry. In 2003, Pastor David and Marisol got married. By June 2005, they both switched to running the high school ministry. With a new vision, was the birth of a new name 'Driven Youth Ministries'. After Pastor David and Marisol took over the high school minstry, it began growing and reaching more youth for Christ. Starting at less than 100 youth in 2005 to presently averaging over 600 youth.In September of 2004, was when they began their journey of directing Chicago Master's Commission. This will be their 6th year discipling and training students as directors of Chicago Master's Commission. Throughout the years, the program has continued to grow, from 5 graduates in 1997 to over 30 graduates this past year (2010). In 2007 David and Marisol accepted the invitation to be on the board of Master's Commission International (MCIN), continuing their passion for discipleship.As they "live" their life as examples of discipleship, they continue to "learn" and then teach, defining one of Pastor Davids key phrases "Live & Learn".Pictured with Pastor David and Marisol is their two kids, Jada Amarie who is 3 years old and Nicholas David (Niko) who just turned one in April 2010.

If anyone would know about how your calling and the grace of God go together it would be this guy right here. Jasen was raised around the church but never participated. He went to college hoping to find what his purpose was but didn't really find it until he took a chance. That chance that he took was Chicago Master's Commission(CMC). In 2006, Jasen saw a Master's graduation and thought that maybe this program could help him find his calling, not understanding the great things that God had in store for him. That same year he went into Pastor David Marrero's office and asked for an application which literally made Pastor David's jaw drop. During his first year of Master's Commission(MC) Jasen really got serious about God and went from knowing no scriptures to preaching. After completing his first year in 2007, Jasen continued with a second year in 2008. It was that year when he was offered an opportunity to work in the MC office on his days off to help the program and in-turn pay off his tuition. During the summer before and during his third year, Jasen continued to work with CMC, fulfilling God's calling on his life. When Jasen had finished his third year in 2009, he was asked on staff. This year he has been asked again to be on staff but this time as an assistant director. Jessica is a prime example of how God truly does keep his promises. In 2002 Jessica was at a Chicago Master's Commission(CMC) graduation and felt God's call on her life to be a part of CMC. On February 27th, 2008 Jessica fully accepted Christ as her savior. In November 2008 God confirmed that she had a gift to reach out to young girls. After that the first time Jessica met with Pastor David was to volunteer to help out with Driven Youth Ministries. She has been helping to run a ministry for young girls called Beautifully Broken ever since.In April 2010, 8 years later, God is still faithful in keeping his promise to Jessica. She just recently began working with CMC and has been using her administration gifts and her willing spirit to better our program. Being raised around Master's Commission isn't always a bad thing but Alex DeJesus knew this for herself. Her father, Pastor Wilfredo DeJesus(Pastor Choco), who is also the senior pastor of New Life Covenant, started Chicago Master's Commission in 1997. So, Alex grew up watching the late night practices, hours spent studying scripture, etc. which helped her to know at a young age that she wanted to do Master's Commission. Alex knew that this would bring the change in her life that she was looking for.In 2008, Alex did her first year at Master's Commission USA(MCUSA) in Phoenix, AZ. Here she learned how to take a back seat sometimes and let others lead. Also, Alex experienced servanthood and humbleness. Alex has also volunteered in Driven Youth Ministries for 11 years. During this time she grew as a person by worrying less about herself and more about others. When Alex was offered the oppurtunity to help out with CMC she saw it as a great way to give back to others as she saw the staff at MCUSA do for her.Favorite food: Thai foodFavorite color: Any color that's in seasonFavorite phrase: "Praise-the-lujah" (idk either?)Favorite thing about Chicago: selection of restuarants,..all the places you've probably never been

Evangelism is a huge part of Chicago Master's Commission and Juan Zavala is a product of this. As a youth, Juan first began coming to New Life Covenant in 2000 because Pastor Choco, our senior pastor, invited him and his family. Even though he didn't come back for six months, the seed had already been planted. In April of 2001, Juan came back to New Life Covenant during the Easter dramas. The Chicago Master's Commission(CMC) students did a human video and by the end of the service Juan had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. But, that's just where his story begins. After that, Juan continued to attend youth services at New Life Covenant. The Master's Commission(MC) students would drop off some of the youth sometimes. A couple MC students were intentional in reaching out to Juan and told him more about Christ and CMC. Through this experience Juan saw the heard of CMC and one year after he graduated high school Juan decided to become a MC student himself. He finished his first year in 2007. When Juan began his second year in 2008 he also started teaching drama classes to the rest of the Master's students. In 2010 Juan graduated his third year. Reyna Celedonio's first encounter with Chicago Master's Commission(CMC) started in 1997 with the first class of CMC students. Reyna was in third grade at a Christian school and CMC came to minister to them.When Reyna was in seventh grade she began coming to youth services and by the time she was in eighth grade became serious about God. She watched the Master's and saw how something just stood out about them. In 2007, as her passion for God continued to grow, she began youth evangelism classes and became a student leader in Driven Youth Ministries.That next year in 2007, Reyna began her first year of CMC. In 2008 during Reyna's second year, she started small groups for youth called Real Talk. Her second year was her hardest year but also her favorite. It was very spiritually challenging but it is where she learned the most. Just recently in May 2010, Reyna completed her third year and was also asked to come on staff to help disciple second year students.Favorite food: Tacos, any kindFavorite color: It changes very often but right now, fuschiaFavorite phrase:Favorite thing about Chicago: Downtown, lights and businesses, and diversity

Who would have ever thought that sports could lead you to Jesus but for Joey Quinones it did. In March of 2006, Joey began coming to Driven Youth Ministries through the youth basketball league. A couple months later in 2006 he learned more about Chicago Master's Commission(CMC) at a youth service that showcased CMC.In June of 2006 Joey decided that he needed a change and that he wasn't spiritually prepared for college's temptations. In 2007 Joey graduated his first year and continued to do three years. During this time Joey was heavily involved with Driven Youth Minstries.Throughout his three years of CMC Joey learned how important it is to be obedient to the call that God had on his life. During his third year of CMC Joey's younger brother Angel did his first year of MC. If it were not for Joey taking a risk and following God's plan instead of his own then it would have been a lot harder for his younger brother Angel to also take that same risk and do CMC. If I could use one word to describe Lydia, it would be "experience." She has "been there and done that" and has taken everything she has learned to help other young girls to get the most out of every day. Her experience started as a young girl. Lydia was born and raised in Palestine Christian Temple which later became New Life Covenant. Her grandfather was the Senior Pastor. As far back as she can remember, she was heavily involved with youth ministry. Her junior high youth pastor, Pastor David Marrero, would soon become her Master's Commission director. Lydia grew up around Master's Commission. She saw the late night practices and servanthood that went along with it. Lydia began her own journey in Master's Commission in 2005 as a 1st year student. After her 1st year, she took a few years off and went to school. But came back as a 2nd year in 2008 and finished her 3rd year in 2010. She added such a huge contribution to the team, that Pastor David asked her to come back on staff for 1st year girls discipleship. Lydia continues using her experience in Master's Commission to teach girls how to live a life pleasing to God.Favorite food: "I love food." Sweets, donuts & cupcakesFavorite color: To wear: black.
